Frameless enclosures are the largest category of work we do, and in Kenwood they usually begin with a compact original bathroom. We fabricate in 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch tempered glass, hinged doors where clearance exists, and sliding or barn-style doors where a swinging door would collide with a vanity. Neo-angle and corner enclosures handle showers carved out of tight postwar floor plans.
Standard clear glass carries a faint green cast from its iron content, and low-iron removes it, which is worth specifying when the tile is pale. Full-wall gym mirrors are the more demanding install, and Kenwood's larger homes and finished lower levels generate a steady volume of them. A standard panel weighs on the order of 100 pounds and cannot hang on drywall alone, so we check for solid backing before we quote, mount on a continuous bottom J-channel, and check the wall plane, because a mirror follows whatever it is bonded to and a bowed wall shows up as distortion.
Custom table tops are cut to a template of the actual piece, not a nominal rectangle. Quarter-inch tempered glass is typical for a protective topper over a wood dining table or desk; three-eighths and half-inch stock serve freestanding tops on a base. Edges are finished flat polished, pencil polished, or beveled, and clear bumpers keep the glass off the wood so trapped moisture never marks the finish.
The other half of this work is fogged windows. When the perimeter seal on an insulated glass unit fails, moisture enters the cavity and the glass hazes between the panes. In most cases the fix is not a new window: we measure the failed unit and fabricate a replacement sealed unit that goes back into the existing sash, with a low-e coating and argon fill available on the new one.
